NEW PARENTS
Hello Parents
I have worked in childcare for over 10 yrs and have seen the stress and frustration of new parents learning how to be the best parent they can be. Some new parents may NOT have family support that they may need in parenting; so as a childcare provider I have always helped in any way I could. Some experienced parents may read these tips and think that everyone knows these things; however not everyone has had hands on training or mentoring in raising children. It is always good to go over the basics to make sure the little ones in our lives are well taken care of. The experiences I have had with new parents have lead me to add the new parent page to the Trinity Daycare Web Site to help others that may not have support. I hope the following tips will help to make parenthood a happy experience for both parents and their children.
Preparing Yourself
1. Choose a doctor. If you are not sure how to find one; ask your primary doctor or friends and family.
2. Keep all of your appointments and follow your doctors instructions. The development of your child depends on your good health.
3. Read as much as you can. What we think parenthood is will be different than what is really be like; so gaining as much information as possible will be helpful.
4. Prepare your clothing for further in you pregnancy so that it is not a rushed and frustrating experience.
Preparing for Baby
1. Decide which room the baby will be in and prepare bedding, bassinet. crib etc. If you are not sure what you will need; stores like "Children's Place" and "Target" have list on their sites to assist you.
2. Make a list of things you will need; then after you receive gifts you can cross those things off and finish preparing for baby.
3. Accept help. You may feel good; but you need to conserve you energy for the baby. I have always been told to sleep when the baby sleeps and that has been some of the best advise.
These tips will only scratch the surface of your new journey of parenthood. I will be updating and expanding the Parenting page as time goes on. I welcome questions or comments. I wish you the best with your new baby .
